So if you’re as smart as Monk or Columbo then you’ve probably figured out that I’m a lesbian who lives in a small town with my partner. Now if you’re even smarter than that you’ll have figured out one of us is pregnant too. Well done.
We’ve been together for 7 years, married for (almost) 4 and started trying for a baby last year (we actually first met up with our babydaddy a year ago yesterday).
Although we’d read online and known a couple of people who’d tried for years we naturally assumed it would happen really quickly for us, even if we kept saying different. We did start a tumblr when we were trying to conceive but honestly it started getting way too depressing not having anything positive to say and so we stopped.
We tried every month since August 2015 when my partner was ovulating and she finally fell pregnant this March and so is about 8 weeks pregnant now. Thank god because she had said in January she was only going to try 2 more times before she would give up and I would start trying (I’m a little younger so it made sense for her to go first).
Anyway as we were walking around kiddicare earlier today it became obvious we’re going to stick out like a sore thumbs in the parenting world of our town. Not that we hadn’t thought about this but I think some of our future experiences will be worth keeping a record of.
My partner already experienced a doctor who’d never heard of AI (artificial insemination) before. This blew my mind since it was something I already knew about in the 90’s as a teenager with no medical experience. Oh well, what can you do? 🙂
Finally we have the good news and happy things to write about plus it’s only due on my birthday :D!!
