Edie’s Weekly Round-up

What did she get up to this week then?

Last weekend she caught a stomach bug off of her friend. She gave that to me and timed it in such a way that I would start puking at work, she’s a clever girl. This is another of those moments that every parent turns around and says to you “this’ll happen, they’re always bringing something home and everyone gets it”. I’m not sure if there’s any difference in any family over the world to be honest, all I ever hear is “yep, that’ll happen, that happened to us all the time”.

Those teeth are still trying to pop through, she must have gums of steel. She has been a little on the grizzly side and her sleep is rubbish. As you might be able to tell I’m a little on the grizzly side and my sleep is rubbish.

Today we had lunch at her dad’s and she was most definitely a little on the grizzly side. Babies are just about the cutest things in the world (apart from kittens obviously, I’m not mental) and I’ve only just realised the reason for us finding their weird chubby-faced, pooey-pants, arms-to-short oddness so adorable. It’s so we can deal with the painful stuff. You have those moments you start to feel you can’t deal with it and then they stick their tongue out, smile and you melt. This isn’t the first time she’s had a melt down when we’ve been with her dad and his boyfriend. She also has melt downs around my brother and has been known to have them around my partners brother.

Maybe when two lesbians make a baby it creates the ultimate super powered angry feminist?! Maybe when she can walk she’ll throw herself in front of her rocking horse? Maybe when she can figure out how to play with matches she’ll burn our bras (she won’t have one yet). Or maybe men are weirdly big, have hairy faces and boy germs? There’s always that.

Anyway our day at Daddy’s wasn’t quite the lovely day at Daddy’s you’d hope for, it was a little louder, and more teary, and shouty. I’m just glad all my teeth have come through.

Maybe next week will be a little more cheery but I won’t hold my breath, I’m too scared to google “how long do babies teeth for?”.

Oof to teething. On the upside, when our last Jack Russell was teething, she ate a hole in my wall…. An actual wall… Haha! At least little humans not at that point yet!
